Loving Yourself

Can You Love Yourself?

I have been prompted by the Holy Spirit to speak to you today about loving yourself. It seems like an easy enough question to answer, but is it? Are there situations throughout your life that perhaps make that difficult to answer?   Many people in their youth were hurt, belittled, made fun of which caused or brought on self rejection. Was this you? Has some past trauma left you feeling unloved, and unlovable? This tactic of the enemy is quite effective in keeping us from fulfilling our destiny.  As well as keeping us from fulfilling Christ’s commandment to love others. How can you love your neighbor if you don’t love yourself?

Mark 12: 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Holy Bible

Jesus Christ left this commandment to us. Our Lord put so much emphasis on our loving our neighbor as ourselves that it became the second greatest commandment, with the first to love God! Even so, for many hurting souls this is difficult. After all if you can’t first love yourself how can you begin to manifest love to another?

Do You Know Who You Are?

Our lake spot is a retreat that we enjoy relaxing at. It’s a close get a way to enjoy peace and quiet as well as the stunning views. Last summer as I was standing on our dock looking out across the lake at the peaceful beauty and just reflecting on it all, I was suddenly visited by the Holy Spirit. I heard Him gently tell me that I was His masterpiece. That was all He said at that moment. I was genuinely stunned and amazed at what I heard. Truthfully I never considered my self special, unique or anything close to a masterpiece. But apparently to God I am and you know what, so are you.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Holy Bible

In our world we see as man sees, but God!!! He see’s us as a creation that is beautiful and perfect. I will admit here that it would be easy for me to struggle with loving others had I not received so much inner healing. My childhood was traumatic, and I suffered deep losses in my life. There were many circumstances that could have caused me to live with a victim mentality. Yet i don’t and it’s easy for me to love others. God put that in me and it’s a beautiful thing. He desires for us to be carriers of His light, and we can’t do that if we are beat up and in desperate need of inner healing.

I am so thankful that the Lord has shown Troy and I His desire for us to minister to the broken of heart. It’s a much needed ministry in the body of Christ. The Lord has a destiny for each of His children and we need to be healed to step into it. I pray you are healed in your inner heart, know that God desires so many blessings for you. If there is an area you are struggling with loving yourself reach out for healing. We are here for you.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Holy Bible
