rebellion

Rebellion Is As Witchcraft

Oh foolish Galatians who has bewitched you?  Often times when we think of witchcraft we think of sorcery, spells and enchantments.  However, it is more than that.
1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”

Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. I think it is important for us to look at ourselves first and foremost. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.  I think it is important for us to look at what can usher in a spirit of witchcraft.  That is rebellion in any form.  Rebellion is defined as – the action or process of resisting authority, control, or convention.  This also includes governmental authority.  The definition of authority is- the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience. So rebellion covers all authority that is over you. God is the ultimate authority and when you disobey his laws and ordinances you are in rebellion. We will also see in the scriptures that God has put all people in place and we are to obey them. If not then we are in rebellion and this allows witchcraft to operate in your life.

Proverbs 17:11  An evil man seeks only rebellion; Therefore a cruel messenger will be sent against him. When you are in rebellion then God will send someone against you. That is pretty serious stuff. Luke 6:46“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say?
Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. Romans 13:6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
As you see in the scriptures above God put people in place over us. You and I are under the authority of the laws in the nation we reside in. If you don’t pay your taxes or follow governmental laws and regulations then you are in rebellion to the land. When you put yourself under someone else, then you must obey them or you are in rebellion which will allow witchcraft into your life.  If you are in school or in a class you are subject to those in authority over you.  If you are in a church that is in a denomination you are under their authority and must abide by their rules or you are in rebellion and have let witchcraft in the door. If you willfully speed down the road or break the laws of the land you are in rebellion as well.  Then you have opened the door to the spirit of rebellion and witchcraft.

Marriage, married women Ephesians 5:23 For a husband has authority over his wife just as Christ has authority over the church; and Christ is himself the Savior of the church, his body.
Colossians 3:18, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.”1 Peter 3:1, “Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives.” Genesis 3:16, “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”
Just as Husband’s are subject to Christ and His authority, ladies are subject to your husbands.  If you find your self not wanting to obey him or his authority then you are in rebellion and have let in witchcraft into your home and marriage.

What does rebellion do in your life?

Rebellion brings judgement on you. Galatians 5:19-21 Now the actions of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, rivalry, jealously, outbursts of anger, quarrels, conflicts, factions, envy, murder, drunkenness, wild partying, and things like that. I am telling you now, as I have told you in the past, that people who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Micah 3:7  Seers will be put to shame. Those who practice witchcraft will be disgraced. All of them will cover their faces, because God won’t answer them.
Revelation 21:8 “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars–their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Rebellion grieves the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 63:10 But they rebelled against him and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he became their enemy and fought against them.  Not only does rebellion grieve the Holy Spirit but, do you want God fighting against You?

Rebellion leads to hardening your heart. Hebrews 3:15 Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.”

Rebellion hinders your prayers. Proverbs 28:9 The one who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

People who rebel say that God doesn’t care. Malachi 2:17 You have wearied the LORD with your words. “How have we wearied him?” you ask. By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the LORD, and he is pleased with them”or “Where is the God of Justice?”

How do we overcome rebellion?

Pray for those in authority over you.1 Timothy 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Married women submit to your husbands. Ephesians 5:24 And so wives must submit themselves completely to their husbands just as the church submits itself to Christ. 1 Peter 2:13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men–
Repent, humble yourselves and pray. 2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will
humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
